This page explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or book work with us, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it. The second half covers cookies.
Who we are
We are the data controller for the information described here. We're based in Bracknell, Berkshire and work across Bracknell and the surrounding towns and villages.

What we collect
When you book a job
- Your name
- Your phone number
- The postcode and address where the work is needed
- The type of job and your description of it
- Whether it's an emergency, and your preferred days and times
When you send us a message
- Your name, and your phone number or email address
- The message itself
Please don't include anything in the message you wouldn't want us to hold. We only need enough to quote for the job and turn up at the right place.
When you browse the site
If you accept analytics cookies, we collect anonymised information about which pages and services people look at, and roughly where in the country visitors are. If you decline, none of this is collected. Our host also keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
We never send your name, phone number, email address or full postcode to Google Analytics.
Why we use it, and our legal basis

We do not use your details for marketing. We don't send newsletters, and we never sell or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.
Who else sees it
We keep this deliberately small.
- Google (Workspace and Apps Script)
- Booking and enquiry details are stored in a Google Sheet and processed by Google Apps Script. Google acts as our processor.
- Telegram
- We receive a notification with your booking details so we can respond quickly.
- Google Analytics
- Only if you accept analytics cookies, and only in anonymised form.
- Hostinger
- Our website host, which keeps standard server logs.
- Our accountant and HMRC
- Invoice and payment records, as required for tax.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become jobs: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Completed jobs: 6 years from the end of the tax year, which is the retention period required for tax records.
- Analytics data: 14 months.
- Telegram notifications: deleted once the job is complete.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your information, where we're not required to keep it
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Provide it in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent for analytics, at any time
Email contact@electricalandmaintenance.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. There's no charge.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. Booking data sits in Google accounts protected by two-factor authentication, and access is limited to the people who need it to do the work.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. This site uses very few, and none of the optional ones load until you say yes.
Essential
Needed for the site to work. These don't require your consent.

What we don't use
No advertising cookies. No social media tracking pixels. No cross-site tracking. No fingerprinting.
The map
The service-area map on our home page is a Google embed. It stays unloaded until you accept cookies, so Google can't set anything through it beforehand. If you decline, you'll see a placeholder instead and everything else on the page works normally.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice whenever you like.
You can also clear cookies through your browser settings.

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
